On May 8, 2014, the European Patent and Trademark Strategy Seminar, hosted by Intellectual Property Office of Shenzhen Municipality and co-organized by Shenzhen Patent Association, China Truer IP, and Beetz & Partner, was successfully held at the Sichuan Hotel in Shenzhen. Hundreds of representatives of enterprises, public institutes, and IP agencies from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, as well as neighboring cities, participated in the seminar. Zhou Jiagui, division director of Intellectual Property Office of Shenzhen Municipality, and Gong Fuxing, secretary general of Shenzhen Patent Association, were invited to attend and address the seminar.

Dr. Angelika Schenk and practicing lawyer Ms. Petra Kotsch from Beetz & Partner, as well as patent engineer Ms. Li Xiaolu were invited to speak about European patent and trademark strategies, including PCT application strategies and procedures, German utility models, European trademark strategies, how to deal with customs confiscation, and other relevant information. Besides, the seminar was held bilingually in English and Chinese, providing clear and accurate interpretation of key points to better facilitate understanding.

The seminar enabled audience to have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of European patent and trademark application and enforcement strategies and procedures. Some enterprise representatives made it clear that the seminar eliminated their confusions and worries about European patent and trademark application, provided precious practical experience for them, and enhanced their confidence in application. They even expressed that they are ready for application in the near future.
